Lewis Hamilton says he went against his own simulator at Silverstone, and was proved right. "Coming into this weekend, the simulator said that we should start in a much different place with the setup, and I and my engineers decided to stay in the direction that we would normally go," Hamilton said. "Charles started the way the sim would say to go, and then ended up my philosophy, the direction that I was taking, was ultimately the right one, and he migrated that way. It's good to see that that direction that I have pushed for is paying off." That is a quiet but real claim: Ferrari's simulator did not correlate with the track, and Hamilton's feel beat the model.
